How Do I Subscribe to the Podcasts?

Subscribing to our free podcasts automates the download of lectures into your computer, iPod, or mp3 player. Click on any of the links below to start your subscription. Yes, these are free, because others have donated to support the service. Do your part: donate to Gnostic Radio. You can also help by writing reviews of our podcasts in iTunes, and recommending them to your friends.

iTunes Podcasts

 iPod and iPhone users and anyone who uses iTunes (which is free; you can get it here) can automatically download lectures by clicking any of the links below. Follow the prompts given by your computer, and in a few moments you can download one or all of the lectures. When new lectures are available, iTunes will automatically download them for you.

Detailed Instructions

In order to subscribe to Gnostic Radio Podcasts, you will need a podcast aggregator, such as Apple iTunes or iPodder. These applications take addresses to podcasts and automatically download new episodes as they air, which you can then listen to on your computer or download on to your iPod (or other music device). The subscription address to Gnostic Radio can be found by right clicking on the Podcast icon listed on the left, and then clicking Copy Link Location (or Copy Shortcut, depending on your browser).

Below are listed two free programs: iTunes and iPodder. New users, or those unsure on what to do should use iTunes, which can download podcasts and acts as a general audio player. iPodder is a nice alternative to iTunes that is strictly for downloading podcasts.

iTunes

This is the recommended option for those unsure on what to download.

Installation

  1. Run the iTunes installer.
  2. It will first ask you to choose a setup language, click OK to continue.
  3. Click Next to proceed past the welcome screen that appears.
  4. The License Agreement is shown, which must be accepted in order to continue.
  5. An About iTunes screen appears. Click Next.
  6. The Setup Type screen present two options:
    1. Install destktop shortcuts: This will place icons on your desktop so that iTunes can be run straight from the desktop.
    2. Use iTunes as the default player for audio files: Selecting this will cause Windows to use iTunes whenever an audio file needs to be played.
  7. Choose Destination Location: The default should be fine, click Next.
  8. Click Next again to finish the installation process.

Subscribing to Gnostic Radio

Run iTunes. Then click on the Subscribe to Podcast item in the Advanced menu, paste the link to Podcast feed, then click OK. See the instructions at the top of the page to get the Gnostic Radio Podcast address. The first Gnostic Radio podcast episode should begin downloading. When it is done, click the small arrow button next to the podcast. This will present a list of episodes, simply double click an episode to start listening.

iPodder

iPodder is a more light weight application that is useful if you do not want iTunes but still want to download Podcasts. Note iPodder only downloads podcasts and does not actually play them. It can however launch iTunes or Windows Media Player.

The iPodder website has a link to download that will take you to a list of mirrors to actually download the file.

Installation

  1. Run the iPodder Setup.
  2. Read the welcome message. Click Next.
  3. Agree to the License Agreement to continue. Click I Agree
  4. Choose an installation folder. The default is usually fine. Click Next.
  5. Two options are listed:
    1. Desktop shortcut: Select this to be able to run iPodder from your desktop.
    2. Add to Startup Group: Select this to have windows automatically run when the computer starts.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Click Finish.

Subscribing to Gnostic Radio

Run iPodder, and click on the Subscriptions tab if it is not already selected. Click on Add new feed (it looks like a green circle with a plus (+) sign). Paste the address of the Gnostic Radio Podcast. See the instructions at the top of the page to get the Gnostic Radio Podcast address.

After the subscription as been added, download the actual audio by clicking on the Check for new podcasts button (its green with two arrows on it). The Downloads tab will be selected and the first Gnostic Radio episode should begin downloading (some sample Podcasts will also be downloaded). From here, right click on the desired Podcast and click Play episode in media player.
